Joni Andrea Sefershayan, MSW, LCSW
A native of Pennsylvania, Joni A. Sefershayan attended undergraduate studies at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, receiving a B.A. in Psychology. She received an M.S.W. in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia with an emphasis on mental health. After graduation, Joni first passed the examination for Pennsylvania State licensure in Social Work and later passed the State examination for Clinical Social Work.
She completed a hospital-based internship at Geisinger Medical Centers Psychiatric Partial Program. Joni Sefershayan has had extensive experience working with the dually diagnosed population and was awarded and undergraduate research grant to study the efficacy of various substance abuse/mental health treatment facilities.
Joni Sefershayan utilizes her life experiences, professional knowledge and diverse education to work with individuals, couples and familes. Confidentiality is respected at every stage of the therapeutic relationship, from intake to discharge. In addition she has attended several diverse training seminars yearly to maintain licensure and to keep abreast of changes and developments in the mental health and substance abuse fields.
Through the use of varied treatment strategies such as; cognitive-behavioral, brief therapy, metaphor, and reality based, the relationship between client and therapist becomes a working relationship striving to identify realistic goals and the actions, decisions and behaviors necessary to achieve those goals.
